Legally Wise is a multilayered project that uses various tools and mechanisms to provide legal access for children and families from underserved communities in India. At the very heart of the project is advocacy, awareness and direct legal access–goals which guide the creation and implementation of its efforts. Legally Wise will provide educational resources like the Stand For Your Rights storybooks such as "Esha Fights For Equal Pay" and "Riya’s Right to Education" that help children understand their rights through relatable narratives and interesting stories. These will be made available in Bengali and English so that they can be enjoyed and utilized by a diverse range of communities. This and other such resources will be funded by the Legally Rise fundraiser.
The Wise and Sensitize Workshop series will provide young children with information about the constitution and the rights of children under its ambit, as well as methods of advocacy. RTE Access Interviews & Survey will provide some of the foundation for these workshops, as it will bring together information about the lived experiences of young girls and women in terms of their experiences or interactions with the law, as well as insights from the interview with the Chief Justice of West Bengal. The project has also established a legal aid access network in partnership with NGOs and pro-bono legal professionals which will function as a resource for individuals and families in need of legal aid or assistance. Finally, Legally Wise will also publish a white paper analyzing their challenges, which will be made available as an open-access resource.
